WINTER IS HERE, BUT YOUR SKIN DOESN’T HAVE TO SHOW IT.
I live in New England so winter is always filled with snow, freezing temperatures and dry skin. Good skin care is the only savior when you have a bad case of dryness. It’s not just about those elbows and knees – we’re talking about those beautiful faces. Dry skin isn’t just annoying. It can make your makeup look ashy and can be very panful in you let it go for a prolonged period of time. Here are my winter essentials to keep my skin plump and hydrated. Here are my go-to products for relieving my winter skin.
- A Good Moisturizer
- Hydrating Mask
- Serum/ Face Oil – preferably with Hylouronic Acid and Vitamin C
- Coconut Oil EVERYTHING
- Refreshing Face Mist
- Lip Balm
SPF is a year round beauty necessity. Someone told me once that the sun is stronger in the winter than in the summer – not sure if that’s true but ever since I have been loading up on my SPF every day. Typically I try to find one that is at least SPF 30. I know a lot of foundations contain a good amount of SPF but I have found that they cause a flash back effect in photos. I prefer to put mine on before foundation to counter act that effect. When you live in a #Selfie world you want to make sure you always look on point.
A good moisturizer is a must! It’s important to pick one based on your skin type so you don’t get over oily through out the day. That is my main problem. I have dry areas, but my T-Zone tends to get some oil as the day goes on. I try to go for a light weight moisturizer for day and a heavy one at night so it can work its magic while I get my beauty rest.
Hydrating mask — nuf said. You need it & who doesn’t like to take a selfie in your cute face mask that is doing WONDERS for your skin? With so many masks on the market I suggests shopping around and giving a lot of different brands a go. You might find one you love right away. I love Dr. Jart and Glam Glow. They are my ride or die brands but I have tried so many amazing others.
Serums and face oils are my absolute favorite! I adore a good hylouronic acid serum. They are amazing for giving your skin an extra boost of moister. If your serum also has vitamin c – oh gurl watch out. I got into serums from listening to The Skinny Confidential Podcast – her skin tips are awesome. Highly recommend you giving her a listen.
Coconut everything….coconut has been such a trend this year & for good reason. Coconut oil also contains medium-chain fatty acids that possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne and protect the skin from harmful bacteria. I call this a super oil because it will treat AND moisturize.
Face mists are perfect for your mid-day rehydration. You don’t want to ruin your makeup by slathering moisturizer over it right? Didn’t think so. Get your hands on a refreshing face mist. It will give you that beautiful dewy look and keep your skin looking young. You drink water through out the day, why wouldn’t you hydrate your face too?
That one part of your body that gets over looked before it’s too late? Lips. Don’t forget to keep your lips soft and supple this winter season. Have you ever tried to kiss someone when you have dry lips? Not fun. Keep them soft with a good lip balm!
