Do you journal? 🤍 I started my journaling practice at the start of 2019. I had just walked away from my career in corporate and was internally struggling with what I really wanted to do with my life. Maybe it was a quarter life crisis but I just knew that what I was doing wasn’t it for me anymore. Journaling began as a way to just get my anxiety out on paper so it wouldn’t live in my brain constantly repeating the same words to me over and over. I suffered a long time from anxiety and PTSD. A time in my life that I rarely mention but it made me a better and more understanding person for it. It’s what started my meditation practice long ago. Again, I found myself in a place of anxiousness so I turned to writing it all down. I spoke yesterday about the importance of routines and with my routine I find that a morning and nightly journaling practice works best for me. I do it before my morning meditation allowing myself to let go of anything I may have written down during my quiet time with myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The method that you do it doesn’t have to be fancy. A pen and paper work just fine. My inner nerd comes out hard for new stationary supplies so I find myself always trying out new journals. The one I am using for the month of October is this 30 Day Mindful by @cloth_and_paper. I like it because it’s prompted and allows me to get out my thoughts in a structured but positive way. After I do my morning affirmations. I choose three at the start of the month and repeat those 8 times to myself after my journaling. This is what works for me but you can make it as easy and simple as you need for yourself. In the beginning of my practice I found myself just doing what I saw others doing because it seemed to be working for them. Truth is that the only way you can make something work for you is if it brings you true joy. You have to have a routine that you LOVE and want to do every day. If it doesn’t do that for you then it’s time to change it up. Keep trying 🤍

If there is one tip I can give you if you are working towards a healthier life it is to implement a daily routine. Let's talk about the proven benefits:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿 Lower stress, by having a routine you lower your risk for stress in your life because instead of asking yourself "when will I get that done" you'll be able to say "I can do that at this time"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿 Better sleep, do ever feel like you are playing catch up? Trying to get through all your tasks and then feeling like there's not enough time in the day. By the end of the day you are laying in bed starring at the ceiling feeling anxious and disappointed because you don't feel accomplished. This turns into poor sleep or not being able to even fall asleep.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿 Better eating and more movement, if you are feeling like you have no time in the day then likely you aren't able to make the best eating choices and you are likely not moving your body. To combat that, schedule it but make it simple! Start small - 30 minutes a day of movement. Don't put pressure on yourself to go from not working out to suddenly attending every work out class you can find. I love using an online platform like the @cactiapp by @cactiwellness. I love the workouts and meditations. I am doing the 4 minute Mantra Meditation Positive Affirmations here in this picture as part of my morning routine. When it comes to food I pick one day a week to grocery shop while I catch up on podcasts and then listen to music/ dance while I meal prep. I make it fun for myself not a chore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

▫️ stimulates the lymphatic system - this system functions as part of your immune system by protecting your body from invaders. It also maintains fluid levels, absorbs digestive track fats, and waste from cells. Ever have a swollen neck when you have a cold? Those nodes that get swollen are your lymph nodes.
▫️ exfoliates the skin - your bodies largest organ that is your first line of defense. It helps to remove those old dry skin cells from your skins top layer revealing more smooth and soft skin.
▫️ helps the body get rid of toxins and sweat

How I do it 👇🏼

I use the dry brush from @oseamalibu and follow my bodies natural lines. You can find these online but I added the image I have always followed at the end here. I then follow up with @oseamalibu body oil which is so light but hydrating. It’s seriously the best body oil I have ever used. I dry brush once a week during the spring and summer months and twice during the fall and winter months, but you’ll find the best practice that works for you.

Tip: rinse your brush after use but dry it bristle side down on your counter.

There are many things that can trigger stresses. Fall is one of the most beautiful times of year, I think, especially if you live in New England like myself. Fall is a time of new beginnings (or changes). The change in scenery with the trees beginning to change their beautiful colors. For some of us the temperatures changing from hot and humid into cool and brisk are not a welcomed occurrence. The days are even becoming shorter with the sun setting earlier and earlier. Kids are starting school. Routines are now different and adjustments have to be made in your day to day.
