I feel like I am one of those people who experience the world through smell and vision. I am always the first to smell something in the air (bad or good lol) and I am keen on always have a good smelling home.
I am especially OBSESSED with my house smelling like the holidays! This is a topic I have a love hate relationship with. Everything on the market is filled with chemicals and “fragrances” (whatever that is).
I don’t think it was until I had my son that I really discovered the wormhole of information there was on fragrances in products I was using every single day! I was a Bath and Body works candle hoarder and I was first in line for all the new scents. When I started herbalism school I was taken on a deep dive of essential oils and natural fragrance options so I began small. Using more diffusers in my home with either home made oils or pure oils that I bought at the store. I started buying clean candles that were naturally fragranced and cleaning products.
Then I remembered my mom making these little simmer pots when I was a kid filled with cinnamon and cloves during the fall time. Our house would smell amazing so I decided to recreate that amazing natural smell in my own home but take it up a notch! I was going for a cozy, sweet, clean smell with a touch of Christmas tree, and MISSON ACCOMPLISHED! I will be making this simmer pot a staple in my house all winter long.
