❄️ Happy December 1st ❄️ I cant believe another month is here! Which means another month of shopping in season and local to get the best quality and freshest produce you can. While also saving some major dollars! Here are 10 in season items you can shop this month -- what is your favorite in season item? Mine are MUSHROOMS which I mistakenly missed from my list but my favorite @fatmoonmushrooms quickly reminded me! I like to call Wednesdays Wellness Wednesday’s around here because it’s my day to asses where I am at mentally and physically with my week. Am I stressed? Do I feel like my nutritional intake has been good or has life got in the way of my healthy habits? How does my body feel? Where am I at mindset wise? How is my mood? How has my sleep been? Have I moved my body enough? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All these questions allow me to connect with myself and refocus my attention on things that need it. Typically it’s things that slip under the rug because I’m running around living my life just like everyone else. The purpose of my weekly wellness exercise is to shift myself back into place. If I continued to ignore those signs that my mind and body kept throwing at me I would continue to go more and more out of balance. Part of a healthy lifestyle that lasts the test of time is to allow yourself the moments to really figure out where you are at in it with out judgement! Allow yourself the presence and opportunity to make those small shifts if needed and CELEBRATE if you are happy with your current situation 🎉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

KALE CHIPS THAT DON’T SUCK 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 ITS SNACK TIME & If I got my kale disliking husband to love my kale chips then I promise you will too! Kale chips are an awesome alternative to regular potato chips if you are looking for that salty crunch but with some extra nutrients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kale is amazing for digestion, reduces inflammation, boosts immunity, lowers cholesterol, and promotes heart health. It is packed with Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin K ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
HOW I MAKE IT: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 1 bundle of curly kale, cut (I use my hands) into small/ medium sized pieces. Don’t make them too small because they do shrink up in the oven. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 Lay cut kale onto a parchment lined baking sheet⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 Drizzle with avocado oil (🔑) avocado oil has a higher temp threshold and holds up really well with the kale. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 Use your hands to make sure all the pieces of kale are coated nicely with avocado oil⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 Lay all the pieces flat onto the sheet - make sure you don’t over crowd because they won’t crisp, they’ll only get soggy⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 Season with sea salt @celticseasalt is what I use, pepper, and a garlic powder⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 EXTRA: I like a little cheesy taste so I add @bragg nutritional yeast⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖊 Bake at 375 degrees for 8 min ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ WA-LAH crispy and delicious kale chips ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So you indulged in an awesome feast, YES I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! When it comes to healthy nutrition what matters is balance & that word can look different for everyone. For me it is eating copious amounts of my families generational stuffing recipe and then continuing on my normal healthy meals in my everyday life. Here is my way of thinking about it - the year has 365 days to it. Roughly 10-15 holidays or birthdays or events. When you think about the greater picture those 10-15 days really don’t effect the other 350 days of the year unless you let it. It’s about allowing yourself to indulge with the mindset that you will continue your normal routine/ lifestyle that you have put in place for yourself. With out guilt, with out feeling the need to “detox” or do a “cleanse” or run 15 miles to “work off that meal”. No. Having a balanced lifestyle in place means eating balanced, healthy, nutritious meals those 350 days so you can ENJOY those 10-15 with out feeling like you regressed in your progress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So what does a balanced plate look like?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍽 Protein⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍽 Healthy fats⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍽 Fiber + whole grains⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍽 Add some probiotic rich foods for optimal gut health + water - stay hydrated⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍽 Starchy Vegetables⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
